WHAT IS PARTY ON PURPOSE?

Party on Purpose is an annual event to support Almost Home. We believe in their mission: Putting people back on the path home by sheltering, serving, and supporting our neighbors in need with beds, clothing, and a connection to resources. Thousands of Dubuque residents benefit from the services provided by Almost Home and the Open Closet. So we want to benefit Almost Home (with your help).

Your Investment Changes Lives

At Almost Home Dubuque we serve and support our neighbors in need through two outreach ministries.
The Open Closet serves over 4000 people each year; the Guest House now provides over 1300 bed/nights each season!

Homeless Dads with Kids Emergency Shelter The big news this year is that Almost Home is now doubling down its ministry by coming alongside dads with kids. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty by helping dad get back on his feet through all of the programs we offer AND breaking the cycle of homelessness by showing children of a homeless dad that there can be a different, a new story of home. With the help of our local schools, kids can stay in the schools where they've been attending even when staying in the emergency shelter apartments. Key staff members will walk with these families as they work toward their goals of independence, all while have a safe place to call home.

The Open ClosetThe Open Closet is open to the public in need—men, women and children of all ages. Items are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis—completely free of charge. Hundreds of winter coats each year, thousands of socks and pairs of underwear, shoes, work shoes, and more all provided to help our community.

All inventory is received through donations of clothing, shoes, hygienic and household items; and are accepted and stocked by the Open Closet Crew.
